Automotive tuner (West Coast)

A West Coast tuning shop with a recognizable IRL livery program licensed its trade dress for FiveM roleplay servers.

Challenge

  • Roleplay servers had been reskinning vanilla GTA vehicles with the tuner's livery for years — high engagement, zero compensation.
  • The tuner wanted an enforcement story that wasn't 'send takedowns into a void' — they wanted a licensed, better-quality pack that creators would prefer.

Approach

  • IRL Meshworks produced a 12-vehicle pack matching the shop's signature builds, with accurate wheel/spoiler/livery combinations.
  • Distribution went through a single licensed channel with anti-tamper packaging and per-server activation.
  • Unlicensed look-alikes were addressed through a one-page takedown template the tuner's counsel could fire on demand.

Outcome

  • Licensed pack outpaced the unlicensed variants on adoption inside 60 days — fidelity and update cadence beat 'free but stale'.
  • Provided the rights holder a first-time view into where their trade dress was actually being used.
